Mrs. Stafford's Page

June 8, 2020

Dear Families,

Well, we made it to the end of the school year!  Below is the work for the last week of school.  I highly suggest starting the Science and Social Studies lessons early in the week so that you can complete and send the work by Friday but you can still send the work to Ms. Laramie and me if you finish it after Friday.

Please remember to come to Sudley Elementary on Friday, June 12th between 8:45 and 11:45 to pick up your personal belongings.  Bring all library books, Ms. Cooke's books, textbooks and computers (if you borrowed one) to school with you on Friday to return. I placed the Origo Math books in your bag.  They are yours to keep and work on over the summer.

In addition, please memorize all multiplication and division facts through 12 x 12 over the summer.  You must know all of these facts for 5th grade Math.  Make flash cards and practice with family members and friends!  Practice, practice, practice!

In my weekly email to you, I have included the link below that includes a variety of summer Math activities to help you prepare for 5th grade Math.   Read plenty of books over the summer, as well!

It was a pleasure working with you all this year!  Have a wonderful summer!

Dear Families,

As we wind down the school year, I wanted to let you know that students can pick up personal belongings left at school.  Pick up day is June 12 from 8:45-11:45.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

At the same time, please be prepared to return library books, textbooks and any other materials that belong to the school.  If you need a list of library books that are checked out, please email Ms. Lunsford at lunsfosl@pwcs.edu.

Dear Students,
We are approaching the end of this schoolyear!  I want to thank you for continuing to complete the work every week! Most of you are sending the work you complete to me; please continue to send it to me over the next few weeks and I will continue to give you feedback.  If there is any work you need help with, please let me know so that I can help you with it.

Please keep all of the work you are completing at home so that you can use it to study over the summer.  In 5th  grade, you will be expected to know all of the multiplication and division facts through 12 x 12.  Make some flash cards and study with a friend (virtually, of course) or anyone in your house so that you know all of the facts before 5th grade starts.  Once you know these facts well, math will be much easier!

Well, I sure do miss working with all of you but remember I am still available to help you! Send me an email if you need help! Have a great week!  Stay safe!

Here is the work for this week.  The language arts lesson is posted on Friday since Monday was a holiday.

April 3, 2020

Dear Sudley Parents,

I hope all is well with you and your family.

We have received more guidance from adminstration regarding instruction after Spring Break.  In order to plan appropriate instruction, I need to know the following:

Do you have internet access?
Does your child have a computer or other device he/she can use to access online resources and instruction?
What is the best way to contact you?  (I sent an email out but many were returned as undeliverable because the information we have on file is no longer valid.)

Please contact me via my email, manlysdl@pwcs.edu, and send me the answers to the questions above.

Students-if you are viewing this post, PLEASE share it with your parents!

Thank you so much,

Ms. Stafford

March 30, 2020

Dear Sudley Families,

In addition to the resources I have previously posted on this page, PWCS is suggesting a home learning resource that you can access.   The link is:

http://www.pwcs.edu/cms/One.aspx?portalId=340225&pageId=41506907

Please contact me with any questions, concerns or comments at manlysdl@pwcs.edu.

March 27, 2020

Dear Sudley Families,

I hope everyone is doing well.  I am fine but missing all of my wonderful students!  I know you all are wondering about learning expectations. I have posted more Science and Math activities and resources that you can use to review concepts we have learned during this year.  Please go to Mrs. Laramie's page for Social Studies and Language Arts resources.  Please note that many of the resources are from approved websites; access them at your own risk.

At this time, your well being is most important.  Therefore, the resources below are only suggested lessons and activities that will help you review concepts learned this year but they will not be graded.

I would highly recommend that you review your multiplication facts through 12 x 12, especially if you don't yet have them memorized.   You can practice using flash cards (you can make your own) and/or going on to multiplication.com to learn them!

Please check my page and Mrs. Laramie's page often for updates.  As we  get guidance from administration, we will continue to update our pages.  I'd love to hear from you with any questions, concerns or comments.  My email address is manlysdl@pwcs.edu.

I'd like to give a shout out to Ian who sent Mrs. Laramie and me a video animation greeting that he made using legos!  Super creative, Ian!!  You are an up and coming film producer!

In addition to the resources and activities listed below, everyone can work on creating something that you, too, can be proud of.  It can be anything at all; a video, a song, a piece of artwork, an animation or cartoon, a piece of clothing, a recipe for a fancy meal or dessert or anything else. Then write or record a reflection about what you created.  Send the reflection to me and/or Mrs. Laramie.  We'd love to hear all about your experiences!
As Jr. Scientists, which you all are, you can find a spot in your yard or in your house where you can observe the natural world.  Return to the same spot each day for about 15 minutes.  Keep a journal describing your observations-what you hear, see, feel, and smell (no tasting!).  Draw what you see.  Plant seeds or find a plant already growing in your yard, watch it grow and record the changes you observe daily.

Be sure to get your parent's permission BEFORE doing any of the suggested learning activities and resources listed above or below!

Be well and stay safe! Hope to hear from you soon!
