Overview of Gifted Education

K-3

The K-3 program offers gifted education services for identified students in kindergarten through third grade.  Students are identified based on specific academic aptitude in the areas of language and/or mathematics.  Because of their advanced academic abilities, gifted students need acceleration and enrichment, as well as opportunities for creative and critical thinking. The program goals are to challenge students to develop their skills in thinking critically, creatively, and reflectively.  Students are offered a variety of educational opportunities that extend and enrich the county curriculum and support the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs).
