The Sudley Library is interactive and always ready for students. Being welcoming is our main goal for the library space and program.
Ms. Brade has been the librarian since 2025. Ms. Brade is always ready to say "hello!" and ensures that the library is welcoming. She plans innovative lessons that connect students to the world around them. Ms. Brade loves to read great books and looks forward to sharing many with you during your time at Sudley.
Ms. Hitchens is our Library Assistant. She keeps the mechanism to support readers going every day as she facilitates the movement of all our books. She loves to read and can talk books all day! However, it's her positive interactions and cheerful attitude that we all love the most.
Students in all grade levels have access to the library every day. Teachers arrange different schedules to visit the library with most students visiting between 2 to 3 times per week.
Students drive their selection. They are encouraged to check out books they are highly interested in reading. The library has many books. Every book in the library is not right for every reader. Families should make some reading decisions together.
In Sudley Library, there are no restrictions for what students may check out. Students may be coached on making selections based on interest and the level of challenge the book provides, but make the final decision.
Classroom teachers may have guidelines for books students are reading for independent reading.
Research shows that students will grow as readers as long as they read. They do not need to read a certain kind of book. Students can read comics, graphic novels, fiction, novels with chapters, poetry, nonfiction, ANYTHING and as long as they read they will grow as readers.
The Sudley Library is open all day, every day, for students to visit to get new books! In addition, students will have a Library class as part of their Encore rotation on one of their days. During classes, students will enjoy read alouds, work on projects, and grow as thinkers and learners.
